THE HUT

History

Prabello was built in early ‘900 by Guardia di Finanza, an Italian corps. They leave Prabello in ’70’s; since ’80’s CAI Monteolimpino started to take care of the building and making improvements.

The hut is run by Cai Monteolimpino volunteers.

The construction

There are two dining rooms and two big bedrooms at the first floor.

In front of the hub there is a wide meadow where you can see Val d’Intelvi, Como Lake and Gordona Rock.

Living in Prabello

There are many walk to do around the hut, for example you can reach the top of Gordona Rock in 40 minutes. On the rock you can see fortifications built for the first world war.

In the meadow, sometimes, we organise music and theatre performances.

There are musical instruments the people use to play.

Electricity

There isn’t electric network. The hut use photovoltaic panels for making his own electricity.

Water

There aren’t sources near the hut. We employ rain water for toilets and we gather drinkable water in the valley only for kitchen. Customers should buy bottled water.

Sleeping

Customers should take with them sleeping bag. In the hut there are pillows and covers. It’s forbidden to plant tents.
